Small Bites: Hot & sour soup, Brew-Ha | Subiaco, & Satay Mu | Kardinya

Thai seafood soup

Fresh squid, fish, octopus, tomato, tofu, delicate balance of hot, sour, salty & sweet. Clear fragrant broth based on homemade fish stock. Coriander garnish. Light, bright & refreshing to the palate.

Brew-Ha

A rare morning tea for me with old school girl friends. A cool respite in the bustling Brew-Ha cafe in Subiaco on a sweltering weekday. Ice coffees & an unremarkable roast beef flatini. I asked what is a flatini? A flat toasted Panini/ciabatta bread bun. A lovely hour or so spent chatting & cuddling the cutest plump babies squirming on our laps.

Satay Mu

One of my regular eateries for delicious & cheap Malaysian hawker style food that is hugely popular with the Asian community. Satay Mu in Kardinya is quick, noisy & can get very crowded. We managed to slip in & order just before the place closed at 9pm.

3 chicken & 3 pork satay skewers, served with the usual accompaniments: chunky peanut sauce, sticky rice cubes (lontong), & chopped cucumber & red onion. Love my satay.

Dumpling noodle soup. A very generous portion of plump pork dumplings.

Crispy noodles with assorted seafood egg sauce

Rating 3 pork satays out of 5

Will we be back Yes, for a quick feed of hawker food every now & again.
